On January 1st, 2022, China's first "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square" proposed by Yan Bin, a Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Reignwood Group, funded by Reignwood Cultural Foundation, was officially completed in Xianning, Hubei Province. Relevant leaders of the Xianning Municipal Party Committee, the Xianning Municipal Government, Xinhua Net, Reignwood Group, Reignwood Cultural Foundation attended the inauguration ceremony, along with Chairman Yan Bin who attended via video Link. Xinhua Net carried out a global network broadcast.
The "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square" was officially opened to the public, free of charge, on New Year's Day of 2022. It is not only a themed square integrating cultural landscape, anti-epidemic education, patriotic education, leisure, and entertainment for the citizens of Xianning, but also may attract more ecdemic tourists to appreciate the building with special meaning designed by several Chinese and foreign design teams.
In this ceremony of the square themed on “Chasing Dreams for a Century and Cooperating for a Bright Future”, Mr. Yang Liangfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Xianning Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, said that on the first day of 2022, the Hubei Xianning’s Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square funded by Reignwood Cultural Foundation is officially completed and come into use in a simple yet grand manner. This major event was conducive to providing more forward momentum to the great anti-epidemic spirit and stimulating an enterprising energy. One can’t achieve anything without spirit, a country can’t become powerful without spirit. The Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square is in Xianning National High-tech Zone is here to remind the whole city to remember the medical staff and medical teams assisting Xianning regardless of danger, and to remember the city’s unity and faith during hard times.
The "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square" chooses green vegetation as the main elements of the square and presents a plant array to pay tribute to heroes, interpreting the great anti-epidemic spirit and inspiring the people of Xianning with motivation.Standing in this square, people can better understand the meaning of the wise leadership of Party Central Committee, of the unity of the people, of the sacrifice of medical staff and volunteers, and of the hard-fought victory achieved by all.
During the construction of the "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square", the project team overcame difficulties such as duration, weather, the epidemic, and severe tests from site selection, initial design to overall construction. It took 153 days to complete this project on schedule, demonstrating the anti-epidemic spirit of "life first, national unity, disregard of safety, respect for science, and shared destiny", and expressing the unremitting pursuit and good expectations of "ecology first and green development", "harmonious co-existence between human and nature".
Xu Shanna, Secretary of Xinhua Net’s Party Committee, said in a video speech that a year ago, she attended a lecture themed, the Xianning anti-epidemic spirit, beside Lake Jingui and witnessed the commencement of the anti-epidemic spirit memorial square. One year later, she was very glad to see the completion of this square bearing the great anti-epidemic spirit. The completion of the Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square undoubtedly further embodies the anti-epidemic spirit. In 2020, Mr. Yan Bin, during the investigation in Hubei accompanying the CPPCC delegation, proposed the establishment and funding of China's first national Anti-Epidemic Spirit Memorial Square in Hubei to pay tribute to the heroes who were on the anti-epidemic front line. "The most difficult thing is to alleviate poverty, but the most urgent thing is to fight the epidemic. We should inherit, carry forward, and practice the great anti-epidemic spirit" said Yan Bin, who mentioned many times the original intention of building this special square.
We should not only commemorate China's great anti-epidemic spirit, but also should correctly interpret, explain, and spread the spirit. At the inauguration ceremony of the "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square", a series of commemorative activities were also carried out in the square. "The good deed is like water, delivering great love..." a chorus team consisted of local medical teams, adolescents, and children sang the public service song, "Chasing Dreams", created by the first-class national composer, Qi Jianbo, to convey the great anti-epidemic spirit. At the same time, the public benefit painting exhibition of "The Children from the Stars" was held in the "Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square". Dozens of works were created by children of the Beijing Golden Feathers Foundation. In these works, children vividly depicts common love and tender feelings with their imagination by various artistic presentation.
Reignwood Aviation Helicopter painted by War Horse also provide a live performance above the square.At the critical moment of epidemic prevention and control at the beginning of 2020, Reignwood Aviation War Horse crew raced against the clock to assist Wuhan multiple times, transporting important materials necessary for fighting the epidemic free of charge, building an air corridor for material transportation.
"Anti-epidemic Spirit Memorial Square" is adjacent to the Red Bull China Hubei production base. On December 12th, 2005, Red Bull China started to build a production base in Xianning, Hubei Province, which was completed and put into operation on July 1st, 2006. It is one of the top ten investment cooperation projects signed at the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and Thailand-China Economic and Trade Development Seminar on July 1, 2005.
